Volunteers of America has responded to the changing needs of a growing city. We continue to expand our existing services while realizing these changes compel us to implement new ones. We are one of the largest nonprofit social service organizations in the region and continue to serve thousands of our neighbors in need — abused and neglected children, at-risk youth, homeless families, the elderly, people with developmental disabilities or mental illness, veterans, people impacted by HIV/AIDS, hurricane survivors and many more.
With volunteers numbering 1,039, a staff of 530 throughout our nineteen parish area and a budget of over $25 million, we’ve received support from organizations such as United Way, the Wilson Foundation, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, the Casey Family Foundation, city, state and federal grants and our donors. Because we respond to community needs, we want to grow our base of community support. |
A Celebration for Change has been a constant theme for Volunteers of America this past year as we’ve continued to expand our services. Once again, we have been awarded the LANO Certificate of Excellence for the quality of our work. Our mission is to reach and uplift people and bring them to the service of God. Not only do we want to create opportunities for you to experience the joy of serving others, but we need to address the most urgent needs of the individuals and communities we serve. The true measure of our success is in the positive change in the lives of those individuals and communities.
