Message from Human Resources
Re: Hurricane Gustav Pay and Children at Work
Hello Everyone,
I hope this message finds you well and being able to return to some sort of “normalcy”. I know that a lot of people are still without power and many schools are still closed. Here is our plan for compensating staff during the past week (Monday, September 1 through Friday, September 5):
Exempt/FT staff:
Employees will be paid their salaries as usual. Full-days missed that the employee would
have normally worked, but missed due to Gustav or power outages, will also be paid.
Non-Exempt/FT & PT staff:
Employees will be paid for the hours that they worked. Scheduled time missed that the employee would have normally worked, but missed due to Gustav or power outages, will also be paid. If an employee was not scheduled to work and did not work, they should not receive pay. Overtime will be calculated only on hours worked.
Effective Monday, September 8, staff should report to work as usual. If staff members need to be out, they will need to notify their supervisors promptly. Full-time employees will be required to take vacation time for work missed.
Children at Work:
We realize that many schools are still not open yet. We want to encourage staff to make every effort to find alternative child care arrangements. As a last resort, employees may bring children to work. Children must remain in the employee’s office and be non-disruptive. We reserve the right for supervisors to determine if the situation is not working and disallow children to come to work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call or e-mail me.
Thanks,
Amy G. Stewart, PHR
Director of Human Resources
Message from our CEO
In the last few weeks, I have had the pleasure to be part of the blessing of your hands of service and acknowledging the great work you do through our three employee appreciation events. I know that each and every one of you is in disaster mode right now and have not only the people you support to care for, but your families as well. Just know that God’s grace is being ministered through your hands as your prepare. Our hands are the means by which grace is ministered and received and another page is written in the story of God’s work in South/Southwest Louisiana.
Bless you all,
Jane
